10 years of designing for car websites

Scion.com

For 10+ years I worked for a small-mid sized agency, DHAP, that worked on large web projects for Toyota, Lexus, and Scion. The company built a Webby award winning car configurator, Build Your Scion, where users could modify a car to their specifications and contact a dealer to start the buying process as well as well as building and maintaining the scion.com site. DHAP's relationship lasted the lifespan of the Scion brand and much of that time I was a design lead on the account.

FRS Release Series

Scion introduced a new model to their vehicle line. I got to work on their promotional website touting the features. A lot of times when marketing a product I start with  a mood board to capture and intangible ideas in color, texture, patterns, and images.

Mobile Build Your Scion

I was the user experience design lead for the mobile Build Your Scion project. Without the barrier of an app download, the mobile site allowed users to immediately play with Scion vehicle configurations and played a crucial role in generating more dealer leads. This application provided the same functionality as the desktop application and retained the visual look and feel.  My role was to map out user flow in macro and micro interactions, I was involved throughout all stages of the project. The Details in Design

I tend to enjoy adding depth to design which quite frankly is missed by marketers and the trend chasers. When creating a Fall campaign, I wanted to get a hero shot of a Scion in the proper background. My source material was all shot in the Spring which looked out of place for a Thanksgiving promotion. With little expense, I made my asset.
